Since I have a longer time to work on the upcoming collection compared to our summer one. This time, I will completely oversee the whole process in making our clothes. From the fabric that will be used in each type of clothing, to details such as threads and buttons. Expect our next collection to be a bit fewer, but a lot better.
Yesterday I started to look for fabrics that I could use for the collection. I drove to the deep streets of Manila to find the place where all these suppliers reside. Traffic here and there, tight spaces that gives as big as an inch gap between cars, and the never-ending line of people passing by everywhere. This is how the journey looked like.
After more than an hour in the car, I finally reached the place. Got my camera, notebook, mobile phone, pen and some samples of fabrics, as I head out to look for all the stuff that I need.
I roamed around for two hours, to find numerous shops that has the same fabrics, unfortunately. It’s kind of hard to look for the right one with almost zero knowledge about fabrics. So let’s just say I went around touching, feeling and looking at them while looking knowledgeable, and also repeatedly hearing “sir, ano hanap niyo?” (sir, what are you looking for?) without really knowing my exact answer. But I think it was still a productive afternoon. As always, having a new experience is a productive way of spending your day.
Experience.
